Custom Acrylic Keychain Design Guide

Designing custom acrylic keychains? A few artwork details can make a big difference in how your finished charms look. This Vograce guide covers double-sided printing, keychain sizing, cutlines, borders, and transparent effects to help you prepare your designs for production.

1. Double-Sided Printing & Text Placement

Vograce offers different printing options depending on how you want your keychain to appear.

• Same Design on Both Sides: The back design will be mirrored by default. You can submit one original design.

• Different Designs on Both Sides: Prepare separate front and back artwork, and select "Double sided different designs" when ordering.

Important for Text Designs: If your artwork includes text, logos, or other elements that must appear in the correct orientation on both sides, select the different-design option and prepare each side separately.

Keep in mind that contrasting colors or prominent outlines may be visible through the transparent acrylic when different designs are printed on each side.

2. Keychain Size, Borders & Cutlines

How Is Acrylic Keychain Size Measured?

The selected keychain size is based on the longest dimension of the finished charm, including the acrylic border and hanging hole—not just the printed illustration.

When preparing your artwork, allow enough space for these additional elements.

Default Border & Hole Placement

• Standard Acrylic Border: 2 mm.

• Default Hole Position: Directly above the design.

• Custom Hole Placement: Mark your preferred position in the artwork or include a note with your order.

You don't need to draw the cutting outline yourself. Simply provide your original design, and Vograce's designers can prepare the cutline and hole placement.

If you have specific cutting or hole placement requirements, clearly indicate them before production.

3. White Borders & Fine Print Details

White outlines and small details require special attention when designing acrylic charms.

A white border may appear slightly thinner on the finished product, particularly near the edges. To help preserve your artwork:

• Make white lines wider than 0.5 mm.

• Keep colored lines wider than 0.3 mm.

• Avoid extremely thin white borders or intricate details that may become difficult to reproduce.

If your design relies on delicate outlines, consider adjusting them before uploading your artwork.

4. Transparency, White Ink & Gradient Effects

White Ink & Transparent Areas

White ink is used to create opaque areas and provide backing for printed colors. Because of this, white does not support a semi-transparent printing effect.

For designs with transparent or semi-transparent elements, make sure those areas are clearly identified in your artwork.

Gradient & Semi-Transparent Designs

To prepare gradient or semi-transparent effects:

• Place transparent and gradient elements on separate, clearly named layers in a PSD file.

• Alternatively, include "semi-transparent" in the file name and leave an explanatory order note.

• Avoid excessively pale colors or very low CMYK values in semi-transparent areas, as the printed effect may become faint or washed out.

• Consider using slightly deeper colors where stronger visibility is needed.

5. Borderless Acrylic Keychain Designs

For borderless or full-bleed designs:

1. Leave a 0.5 mm bleed area with background color around the artwork.

2. Include the artwork background rather than trimming it to the final cutline.

3. You don't need to draw the cutting outline—Vograce's designers can prepare it.

4. Clearly indicate your full-bleed requirements when placing your order.

6. Prepare Your Artwork for Upload

Once your design is complete, make sure your files meet Vograce's artwork specifications before ordering.

Once you receive your proof, please check the artwork and confirm that everything looks correct before production begins.

Ordering 5 pieces or fewer? If you'd like to review a proof, please leave a note requesting proof confirmation when placing your order.

Proof requirements may vary depending on the product and customization details.

2. How to Review & Confirm Your Proof

When your proof arrives, carefully review the details relevant to your design, including:

• Artwork & Layout: Check the design, orientation, and placement.

• Cutlines & Borders: Review the cutting outline and borders, if applicable.

• Text & Colors: Check spelling, artwork details, and color arrangements.

• Special Requirements: Verify any requested customization details shown in the proof.

If anything needs adjustment, reply to the proof email with clear instructions before approving it.

Important: For orders requiring proof confirmation, production will begin only after you approve the artwork.

We recommend checking your email regularly after placing an order to avoid unnecessary delays.

3. How Is Production Time Calculated?

Proof confirmation time is not included in the estimated production time.

For orders requiring approval, the production timeline begins after your artwork proof has been confirmed.

The overall order timeline may include:

1. Artwork Review & Proof Preparation: Your design is reviewed, and a proof is prepared when required.

2. Proof Confirmation: You review and approve the artwork or request adjustments.

3. Production: Your customized products are manufactured according to the approved design.

4. Shipping & Delivery: Your completed order is dispatched using the selected shipping method.

Production times vary by product type, quantity, and customization requirements.

4. Ordering Multiple Custom Products?

If your order contains different product types, the estimated shipping date is based on the item with the longest production time.

For example, if you order custom stickers and acrylic keychains together, the overall production schedule will depend on whichever product takes longer to manufacture.
