Acrylic Keychain File Requirements & Guide

Ready to turn your artwork into custom acrylic keychains? Follow Vograce's file requirements and upload instructions to prepare your designs for printing. From artwork resolution and double-sided layouts to file naming and submission, here's what you need to know before ordering.

1. Acrylic Keychain Artwork Requirements

For accurate printing and cutting, please prepare your artwork according to the following specifications.

Resolution 300 DPI at the intended print size
Image Dimensions At least 1000 pixels on the longest side
Color Mode CMYK (Japan Color 2001 Coated) where supported
Background Transparent background recommended for custom-shaped designs

Artwork Tips:

  • Keep your original artwork at a high resolution. Enlarging a low-resolution image won't restore missing details.

  • For editable PSD, PDF, or AI files, use the recommended CMYK color profile where supported. Transparent PNG files are also accepted, although PNG uses RGB rather than CMYK.

  • Keep important design elements clear and avoid extremely thin lines. For standard clear acrylic keychains, white lines should be wider than 0.5 mm and colored lines wider than 0.3 mm.

2. Preparing Your Acrylic Keychain Design

Single-Sided & Double-Sided Artwork

Vograce offers different printing options to suit your artwork.

  • Same Design on Both Sides: The back artwork is mirrored by default. You only need to provide the original design.

  • Different Designs on Both Sides: Prepare separate front and back designs using clearly labeled files or layers.

  • Designs with Text: Select "Double sided different designs" and prepare the back artwork separately if you want the text to remain readable rather than mirrored.

For double-sided keychains, keep in mind that prominent lines or contrasting colors on opposite sides may be visible through the transparent acrylic.

Size, Cutlines & Hole Placement

Your selected keychain size refers to the longest dimension of the finished charm, including the acrylic border and hanging hole—not just the printed illustration.

  • Default Border: The standard acrylic border is approximately 2 mm.

  • Cutlines: You can upload your original artwork without drawing the cutting outline. Vograce's designers can prepare it for you.

  • Hole Placement: The default hole position is above the design. If you prefer another location, mark it in your artwork or leave an order note.

  • Borderless Designs: Leave a 0.5 mm bleed area with background color to allow for cutting.

Transparent & Special Artwork Effects

If your design includes semi-transparent areas, gradients, or other effects requiring special handling:

  • Place semi-transparent or gradient artwork on a separate, clearly named PSD layer.

  • Avoid extremely pale colors in transparent areas, as they may appear faint after printing.

  • White ink is opaque and does not support semi-transparent white effects.

  • For artwork with a white border, avoid very thin outlines that may appear narrower on the finished product.

3. File Naming & Upload Instructions

Once your artwork is ready, organize your files before uploading them to Vograce.

File Naming Format

Use the following format to identify each design, quantity, and accessory selection:

DesignName_Quantity_#AccessoryNumber

Example: CatCharm_50_#B3

This indicates a design named CatCharm, an order quantity of 50, and accessory option B3.

When submitting multiple designs, use a separate, clearly named file for each one to avoid confusion.

How to Upload Your Files

  1. Organize: Place all your artwork files in one folder.

  2. Compress: Save the folder as a .ZIP file.

  3. Choose Product Options: Select your preferred printing style, size, accessories, and quantity on the product page.

  4. Upload: Submit your ZIP file using the product page's artwork upload option.

  5. Review & Order: Double-check your selected options and uploaded artwork before adding the product to your cart.

For designs that require different front and back artwork, make sure both sides are included and clearly identified.

4. Artwork Review & Proof Confirmation

After you submit your order, Vograce may contact you if your artwork requires clarification or adjustment.

For eligible orders or designs with special requirements, you'll receive an artwork proof or cutting outline by email for confirmation before production.

Please check your email and review the artwork, orientation, cutlines, and hole placement carefully when confirmation is requested.
